Options, Strategies and Measures for the Mitigation of Climate Change

Release of the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report - Working Group 3

On 13 April the contribution of the IPCC Working Group 3 to the Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) "Mitigation of Climate Change" was launched in Berlin. It assesses all relevant options for mitigating climate change through limiting or preventing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing activities that remove them from the atmosphere. The volume analyses mitigation options for the main economic sectors in detail. Prof. Dr. Manfred Fischedick, Vice President of the Wuppertal Institute, was the lead author of the international author team for the chapter industry. Additionally, Oliver Lah from the Wuppertal Institute was involved as a lead author in the chapter transport. The report and a summary for policy makers are ready for download.

The Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) is an update of knowledge on the scientific, technical and socio-economic aspects of climate change. The contribution of Working group 1 "Climate Change 2013: The Physical Science Basis" was launched at the end of January 2014. The report on Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability (Working Group 2) was published at the end of March in Yokohama.
