Once again, a junior scientist from India was awarded the Humboldt Foundation's German Chancellor Fellowship and will thus conduct his research at the Wuppertal Institute. Siddharth Singh will study the German Energy Transition for a year, starting in November, and will derive insights for India's transition from his research findings.

In the course of his studies, he will investigate structural changes of energy intensive industries that came along with the Energy Transition as well as the positive and negative impact on the economy. Furthermore, he will also explore questions of acceptability of change among communities likely to be impacted by the transition.

Siddharth Singh comes from the renowned The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in New Delhi, where he works on projects dealing with the risks to the maritime trade of oil and gas in Asia as well as the electrification of rural areas in India.

In 2016, Siddharth Singh is the second scientist from India, who can carry out his research at the Wuppertal Institute due to the Humboldt Foundation's German Chancellor Fellowship. Due to the 2015/16 Fellowship of the international climate protection scholarship, Sumedha Basu conducts her research at the Wuppertal Institute, studying the complexity of cities and the diffusion of renewable energies as well as efficiency technologies.
