The aim of this event is to showcase sustainable urban development and mobility solutions, to discuss the steps towards implementation, work on pilot project concepts and identify finance and policy options. This will also show case the cooperation with Fiji on urban development and transport solutions in the context of the Urban Pathways project and the Urban Electric Mobility Initiative.

The session will discuss key challenges and opportunities for sustainable urban development, showcase innovative urban planning and mobility solutions that are readily available for take-up and present governance and finance solutions.

Short intro to Urban Pathways followed by a discussion on

  • What experiences from Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America can be shared for a path towards sustainable urban energy, mobility and resources management systems in cities?

Short intro to the Urban Electric Mobility Initiative followed by a discussion on

  • What is the role of technology in the transition towards sustainable urban mobility?
  • What are the socio-economic, political and institutional issues that help or hinder in the implementation of low-carbon mobility solutions?
