Conference on the European Project "North European Trade Axis" (INTERREG IIC) in Rheine, Dec. 2005

NETA - an Emerging Strategy

  • Press Releases 05.12.2001

Today the Wuppertal Institute is hosting on behalf of the North Rhine-Westphalian Staatskanzlei (State Chancellery) an international conference called "North European Trade Axis - an Emerging Strategy" in Rheine, North Rhine-Westphalia. Aim of the conference is to present the main results of this project which was funded by the European INTERREG IIC programme and to present opportunities for future cooperation and a German participation in the forthcoming INTERREG III programme.

The idea behind the project is to develop a West-East corridor from Ireland, England, the Netherlands, and North Germany to Poland as an economic and transport alternative to the congested North-South orientation in the European Union. Experts in planning, transport and environment from the UK, the Netherlands and Germany will join the conference.
