  • Duration 04/2009 - 03/2012

The aim of this project is to determine the impact of women in leadership positions. In this context, the content related, organisational and cultural change potential will be analysed. The Wuppertal Institute will mainly focus on how women relate to power and try to find out, if female leaders involved in ecology related occupations do contribute more or differently to achieve sustainability and sustainable development.
A first step is a qualitative survey where women in leadership positions as well as men and women in the higher and middle management of business, non-universities organisations, political institutions and universities will be interviewed regarding their personal capacity of change. The outcome, especially its resulting conflict potential, will be deepened in two further case studies. Therefore, one-on-one interviews with selected experts from science, business and politics will be conducted.

Beside these main focuses, it will firstly be analysed where a culture of innovation takes roots and how it can be cultivated. Secondly it will be tried to find out how professional live and living environment can be combined and what kind of support women in leadership positions do or do not get. The findings will be used to develop recommendations for equality oriented policies.
