Capacity Building for Municipal Representatives in China on Climate Friendly and Sustainable Integration of Electric Cehicles in Urban Transport

  • Project no.250834
  • Duration 03/2016 - 11/2016

In the project the Wuppertal Institute supports the GIZ in providing Chinese government institutions access to conceptual and technical background information to introduce electric-mobility in China in a climate-friendly and environmental sound way. The Wuppertal Institute develops a guidebook entitled "Electric Mobility in Chinese Cities - A guide to low-carbon EV-ready cities in China".  The guidebook provides recommendations on actions that municipal representatives can take to promote electric mobility in their city. Recommendations provided are related to i) policy and administration ii) charging infrastructure iii) e-mobility operations models and iv) services and safety for electric mobility. For each recommendation implementation examples from a Chinese city and a city abroad are given. In addition, based on the guidebook, training material for dissemination in China will be developed and a train-the-trainer seminar will be conducted.

The activities are part of the Sino-German Cooperation Project on Electro-Mobility and Climate Protection, which is jointly implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC) and conducted on behalf of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety of the Federal Republic of Germany (BMUB) and the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China (MoST).
