On both national and international level, the number of policy approaches with direct and indirect relations to raw materials, resource and material efficiency has considerably grown in the last 40 years. Bettina Bahn-Walkowiak and Sören Steger of Wuppertal Institute discuss the current spectrum of resource objectives in international, European, and national strategies, programs, and initiatives, inter alia by presenting an inventory of different political and regulatory approaches referring the resources construction materials, industrial minerals, or metals. The closer look of the development and status of raw material targets however reveals that most goals remain at a strategic level as yet and call for further specification and timelines.
