Morocco developed an energy strategy that aims at sustainability based on renewable energies. One step is to install solar-power plants and thereby capitalise on the country's immense potential.

The joint project of the Wuppertal Institute and Germanwatch analysed the impacts of the concentrated solar power (CSP) plant NOORo I in Quarzazate, Morocco, on the livelihood of the local population. The results show that the 160 MW pilot CSP plant does have positive impacts on the local development. The Social Development Plan by the governmental institution MASEN with it's integrated approach was essential for the positive development.

Thomas Fink will together with Boris Schinke present the joint project Social CSP at a Side Event of the COP22 in Marrakech titled "How ENR allow for a true social integration". The event takes place at the Masen Stand in the Green Zone at 10.30am. For more information on Social CSP, please see the project's description.
