Tying together Energy Research and Social Science

Elsevier holds the first international conference on Energy Research and Social Science in Melia Sitges (near Barcelona, Spain). The conference aims to analyse the relationship between energy systems and society.

WISIONS is an initiative of the Wuppertal Institute, founded in 2004, aiming to make clean energy a default solution for basic energy needs in developing regions. At the conference, the WISIONS team will present the study "Localising the Water-Energy-Food Nexus: How are Local Level Sustainable Energy Projects Linked to Water and Food Issues in the Global South?". It systematically analyses the linkages between selected projects of the "SEPS - Sustainable Energy Project Support" and the food and water aspects of development. Other topics dealt with at the conference include the transition of the whole energy system, national energy politics as well as finding solutions to address the energy trilemma (security, equity, and environmental sustainability) in concert with technological advances.
