Is the Climate for European Ports Changing?

ESPO 2017 in Barcelona

  • Events 01.06. - 02.06.2017

The Port of Barcelona hosts the Annual ESPO Conference in 2017 under the guiding theme "Is the climate for European ports changing?". Limiting the increase of global temperature well below 2 degrees Celsius and tackling climate change are probably one of the greatest challenges of human history and ask for actions in various fields, also from ports.

How to become a low-carbon or even decarbonised port? How much time do we need for the energy transition? Are European ports and their infrastructure prepared for the storm? Will ports be part of the solution to the climate issue? - These are only a few of the questions that will be addressed at the conference.

Wuppertal Institute's Clemens Schneider will participate in the session on "How to become a low carbon port?" He will talk about the "Decarbonisation of ports and port industry: turning the challenge into an opportunity".
