Climate Protection in Transport - More than E-Mobility

Event series "NRW Climate Lounge" on COP23 at Post Tower in Bonn

NRW Climate Lounge

The event series "NRW Climate Lounge" offers events alongside COP23 on nine weekdays from 5 – 7 p.m.

Before introducing the topic of the day, the Wuppertal Institute will present the daily update on the current official negotiations at COP23. Next, various innovative approaches to climate protection in the transport sector will be discussed, examining many different levels in action. This includes the local-level concept "Emissions-free traffic Bonn", which took root after winning a competition in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) against many other candidates. Electric mobility in the commercial vehicle sector was made socially acceptable by the StreetScooter concept. Electric delivery vehicles from Deutsche Post DHL Group have long become part of the everyday street scene. What were the success factors of the innovation approach from the university and what are the future plans to roll out the idea. In addition to electric mobility, synthetic power-based fuels are thought to have a high potential for climate protection. Which fuels have a real chance for a market launch and when and what role do synthetic fuels play in specific planning for the petroleum industry? These questions and more will be addressed during the event.
