Silesia Climate Lounge: From Paris to Katowice – International climate diplomacy explained

The event series will commence with an introduction on the basic principles, background and future outlook of international climate diplomacy. The event is open to the general public and will provide an explanation for interested citizens about what is happening in the conference venue, the key issues being negotiated and the prospects for a successful UN climate conference. Furthermore, speakers will make the connections and highlight some of the implications of the Paris Agreement and the results of COP24 for its hosts: Katowice, Silesia, and Poland.

  • What is at stake at COP24 in Katowice? (Wolfgang Obergassel, Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy)
  • Making the connections – What does the Paris Agreement and COP24 mean for Poland and Silesia? (Tobiasz Adamczewski, WWF Poland)
  • Behind the Scenes: What is the role of Poland as the host of COP24? (N.N., Polish Delegation to the UNFCCC)

General public are welcome to this event, which will be held in English language. Translation will not be available. The event will take place on 8 December at 16pm to 17.30pm atCity of Katowice´s tent on Market Square.
