Laying the Foundation for an Inclusive Global Stocktake

The side event will discuss the functions of the Global Stocktake and preconditions (information-related and procedural) to maximise the catalytic effect of the Global Stocktake to raise ambition. Building on an introductory presentations of an ongoing research by the Wuppertal Institute, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, and Öko-Institut, the panel will discuss options to effectively design the official Global Stocktake and the potential for a complementary independent Global Stocktake carried out with inputs from civil society and academia. The event is co-organised by the Wuppertal Institute and the Climate Works Foundation.
