Progress on Art. 6 - Moving Towards Implementation

COP24 side event in the EU pavilion

With COP24 to decide on the rulebook for the new market mechanisms under Article 6.2 and 6.4 of the Paris Agreement, sharing of information on approaches to and first experiences from pilot activities is crucial. The side event will discuss critical aspects that should be addressed by pilot activities. The event will take place on December 8 at 18.30 to 20 pm in the EU Pavilion and is co-organised by Wolfgang Obergassel from the Wuppertal Institute together with partners from Perspectives Climate Research and the West African Alliance on Carbon Markets and Climate Finance.

The event will feature the following presentations:

  • "Achieving Overall Mitigation and Ambition Raising under the Article 6.4 Mechanism" by Wolfgang Obergassel (Wuppertal Institute) and Jürg Füssler (INFRAS),
  • "Piloting Art. 6 activities – key issues to be tested and emerging experiences" by Aglaja Espelage (Perspectives),
  • "Article 6 from a regional implementation perspective" by Tobias Hunzai (West African Alliance) and Asmau Jibril (Nigeria) OR Rachel Boti-Douayoua (Ivory Coast)
