The Current Challenges of Urban Development

Roundtable: beginning of series of preparatory events

In the context of the annual Latin American Geographers Meeting that will take place in Quito, Ecuador in April 2019, the Catholic University of Quito (PUCE by its Spanish acronym), venue of the EGAL 2019, is organising a series of preparatory events to discuss the different topics that will be addressed during the Latin American Geographers Meeting. On 10 January 2019, the topic will be the current challenges of urban development, to which the Wuppertal Institute was invited to talk about the challenge of climate change in cities.

In the Catholic University of Ecuador, Maria Munoz Barriga, Research Fellow in the Energy, Transport and Climate Policy Division at the Wuppertal Institute, will participate as a speaker to present Urban Pathways Project, which will contribute to capacity development activities in Urban Pathways partner cities in Latin America. The event will include a panel discussion about the different challenges that cities face at present.

The event language is Spanish and the target groups are academia and urban practitioners. The event is open for all participants.
