25th International Passive House Conference Comes to Wuppertal

Wuppertal institute supports hybrid event on sustainable building

Buildings that consume little energy for heating and cooling pave the way to effective climate protection. And only with a low energy demand can houses be supplied with renewable energy on a long-term basis and across the board. Therefore, "Passive House – the key to sustainable buildings!" is the main topic of the 25th International Passive House Conference. The conference is planned for September 10th–11th 2021 as a hybrid event in Wuppertal. Supplementary online events will be offered at the same time. The patron of the conference is the North Rhine-Westphalian Minister of Economics, Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart.

The 25th International Passive House Conference deals with a wide range of topics on sustainable building: It is about efficiency and renewable energy, neighbourhoods and components, serial renovations, politics, cooling concepts, concepts for teaching and training and renewable raw materials, among others. Above all topics stands an indispensable maxim: "Energy efficiency first – #EfficiencyFirst". Only when the efficiency of buildings is significantly improved and therefore require only little energy for heating and cooling, they are built sustainably.

The 25th International Passive House Conference is supported by the Wuppertal Institute. Anja Bierwirth, Head of the Urban Transitions in the Energy Research Unit at the Wuppertal Institute, is on the advisory board of this year's Passive House Conference and is jointly responsible for selecting publications and projects for the conference.
This year's programme includes lectures, interactive workshops and excursions. A versatile trade exhibition will present new insights and ideas on all aspects of the passive house. The numerous networking opportunities also offer the chance to network with the international passive house scene. At the passive house exhibition, various suppliers will present insulation materials, windows, ventilation units with heat recovery and other products for passive houses. Visitors will be able to get advice, obtain information material and look at illustrative objects.

Before the conference and afterwards, the Passive House Institute will offer a series of basic and specialist workshops. On September 12th, 2021, there will also be an excursion to passive house projects in Wuppertal and the surrounding area. The visit to the exhibition is free of charge.
