  • Events 14.10. - 16.10.2021
  • Location Bejing (China) and online

Sustainable transport is one of the most important proactive measures to significantly reduce global greenhouse gas emissions, mitigate negative health impacts while advancing economic and social development. As a follow-up to the first Global Sustainable Transport Conference, held in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan) in 2016, the second United Nations Global Sustainable Transport Conference will take place in a hybrid format in Bejing (China) from 14 to 16 October 2021. The conference aims to identify opportunities, challenges and solutions for the implementation of sustainable transport worldwide in order to achieve the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris agreement on climate change.

Bringing together key stakeholders from governments, UN entities, NGOs and other organizations, key transport objectives, such as access for all, green mobility, efficiency and safety will be discussed on the margins of the conference in form of virtual side events. In this context, a side event will be organized by the Research Unit Mobility and International Cooperation of the Wuppertal Institute. Dr. Oliver Lah, Head of the Research Unit, will be presenting the living labs of the Wuppertal Institute in his session "Boosting Transformative Urban Electric Mobility Solutions", in particular the integrated urban electric mobility solutions of the projects SOLUTIONSplus and Urban Pathways.
