Circular Solutions Festival

The Circular Solutions Festival takes place in Berlin from 12 to 14 September 2022 and online. The festival will be opened with a hybrid event on 12 September. After an official welcoming and a dialogue with circular economy investors, scalable circular economy solutions from the PREVENT Waste Alliance will be presented on several stages. The PREVENT Waste Alliance brings together organisations from the private sector, academia, civil society and public institutions worldwide. It serves as a platform for exchange and international cooperation on circular economy. 

On 13 and 14 September, several in-depth sessions will provide an opportunity to take a closer look at the experiences and findings of pilot projects, innovation programmes and working groups. It's all about digitalised value chains, the design of circular packaging, e-waste recycling, plastic credits, education for the circular economy, and a plethora of other topics. 
Dr. Henning Wilts, Director of the Research Division Circular Economy at the Wuppertal Institute, presents the project "Plastic Credits – Financing the Transition to the Global Circular Economy" (PlaCreIn) in the online session "Key Lessons learnt from socially-inclusive, circular plastics value chain projects" on 13 September from 2 pm. PlaCreIn aims to plan, finance and implement efficient and ethically justifiable waste management systems in rural regions of India. Henning Wilts joins Burcu Gözet, Researcher in the Research Unit Material Loops at the Wuppertal Institute, in an exchange with other circular plastics pilot projects in the Global South. Together they discuss learnings from the projects and provide key insights into local collection and recycling projects in India, Vietnam, Mexico, and Brazil.
