Managing the Transition to Net Zero

NDC ASPECTS final event: EU climate policy in a global context

  • Events 09.07. - 10.07.2024
  • Location Brussels and online

On 9 and 10 July, the NDC ASPECTS project team, together with the team of the Horizon 2020 sister project "4i-TRACTION", will host the NDC ASPECTS final conference in Brussels. One month after the European elections, the researchers spotlight key issues in the transition to climate neutrality – in the EU, in other major emitters, and globally. Together with policy makers and other stakeholders, they will discuss solutions to the existing challenges at the hybrid event.

The conference program consists of two subtopics. On the first day, the focus will be on EU policy, with a particular emphasis on investment, infrastructure and international integration. The second day will focus on global policy, including hard-to-abate sectors, action by major emitters and international cooperation. Researchers from the Wuppertal Institute are represented with two contributions: Dr. Georg Holtz, Senior Researcher in the Sectors and Technologies Research Unit, will speak on "Impacts of global green iron trade in the context of a near-zero steel industry". Dr. Lukas Hermwille, Co-Head of the Transformative Industrial Policy Research Unit, will give a lecture entitled "A race at all costs? Economic and environmental effects of industrial policy nationalism".

Participation is possible both on site in Brussels and online. Further information, the detailed conference program and the possibility to register are available via the link below.
