On 12 and 13 March 2025, the Circular Valley Convention will bring together leading players and thought leaders from business, science, politics and society to jointly develop solutions for the future of the circular economy. The Circular Valley Convention is a blend of conference, expo and networking event and offers participants cross-industry exchange and a marketplace for circular economy solutions.
The programme covers all phases of the circular economy: from product design, production, logistics and use to sorting and recycling technologies. Under the motto "Uniting Industries for a Circular Tomorrow", the focus is on circular solutions for various industries and material classes such as plastics, packaging, printing, construction, glass and metal. In addition to solutions that are already market-ready, the Convention also provides an outlook on the future of the circular economy.
On the evening of the first conference day, Prof. Dr. Henning Wilts, Director of the Circular Economy Research Division at the Wuppertal Institute, will take part in a panel discussion with Ralf Düssel, Chairman of the Board of Plastics Europe, the association of plastics producers in Germany, Prof. Dr. André Bardow, Professor for Energy and Process Systems Engineering at ETH Zurich, and Carsten Cramer, Managing Director at Borussia Dortmund and responsible for the corporate responsibility department there, Wilts will speak on the topic "From Green Deal to Industrial Deal: Economy as the basis for greater ecology and social stability". Using the example of a circular and sustainable plastics industry, the four panellists will discuss the key points for Germany's competitiveness, with the aim of making the plastics system climate-neutral and finding solutions for the ubiquitous plastic waste.
