Zero Carbon Industry 2026: Efficiency, Resources, Competitiveness

Wuppertal Institute contributes eight presentations to leading international conference on industrial transformation

The Zero Carbon Industry 2026 conference addresses all those dealing with energy efficiency in industry – from company representatives to researchers and NGOs to political decision-makers across all government levels. The goal is to provide comprehensive evidence-based information on all aspects of industrial energy efficiency and to connect stakeholders. In around 90 specialist presentations, speakers from the scientific community will explore the topic of energy in industry from different perspectives. Researchers from the Wuppertal Institute will be represented with eight presentations:

  • What are the potentials of smart meter-based energy management practices to address the extended energy efficiency gap in SMEs? – Felix Große-Kreul, Researcher in the Structural Change and Innovation Research Unit
  • Accelerating the Circular Economy: Overcoming Barriers to Scale-Up Chemical Recycling in the EU – Charlotte Hullmann, Researcher and PhD Student in the Transformative Industrial Policy Research Unit
  • Technology inventories on promising low-emission technologies for steel and petrochemicals – Dr. Georg Holtz, Co-Head of the Sectors and Technologies Research Unit
  • Decarbonizing the European Cement Industry: Introducing the ITOM-Cement model – Alexander Kling, Researcher in the Sectors and Technologies Research Unit

The conference is organised by the European Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (eceee). The event will be held in English.
