The German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) sponsors once again the young talent competition "Digital GreenTalents – High Potentials in Sustainable Development" to promote the international exchange of innovative ideas at the intersection of digitalisation and sustainability. The focus is on the question, how digitalisation can contribute to sustainability in science and society. The "Digital GreenTalents" competition is a rebranding of the long-standing prestigious BMFTR programme "GreenTalents".

From a diverse international pool of applicants, a jury selects the best "Digital GreenTalents". The high-profile jury consists of renowned experts, this year including Prof. Dr. Henning Wilts, Director of the Circular Economy Research Division at the Wuppertal Institute.

The award ceremony will take place online in November 2026. The Digital GreenTalents are then invited to Germany for a three-month research stay at a company, university or research institution, where they will turn their ideas and ambitions into reality. During a one-week SpringSchool they have the opportunity to exchange their ideas and network.

Applications are open from 15 May to 15 June for PhD students and students in their final year of their Master's degree.
