Technology Matrix Germany

Technology Matrix Germany: Technology Options for Climate-Friendly Cities 2050

  • Project no.2142
  • Duration 11/2009 - 11/2010

Objective of this research project was to create an overview and evaluation of innovative, primarily in long-term to a drastic reduction of energy turnovers and CO2 emissions oriented technologies in form of a transferable, general matrix for German (and perpespectively for Western European) cities. This matrix will serve as a basis (decision-making and assessment tool) for the development of long-term local climate protection concepts, in which also the local conditions will then apply. The selection of appropriate technologies for municipal concepts is facilitated. In addition, the unified basis allows improved cooperation among the cities in the preparation of such strategies. The inclusion of an accompanying project advisory committee, composed of eighteen other clients beside the representatives of major German cities made it possible to consider the specific needs and experiences of the municipalities in the preparation of the matrix.
