Sustainable Wood Mobilisation for Future Markets through Regional Cluster Management: Development and Trial of Management Systems in Exemplary Regional Forest and Wood Clusters

The research project aims at developing and at testing innovative approaches of regional cluster management for wood mobilisation and wood use in sustainable future markets. Management systems and other organisational and procedural approaches are developed and improved in selected regional clusters in order to enable a knowledge and experience transfer to other German regions.
The project has four work packages:
1. Wood Potential and Limitations for its Mobilisation
Development of wood mobilisation strategies and supply chain optimisation based on:
The analysis of the actually regional available wood potential
The identification of specific wood mobilisation limitations in different regions
The identification of land use competitions.
2. Cluster Actors and Wood Future Markets
Analysis and characterisation of forest and wood cluster actors as well as analysis of regional specific key and future markets for wood products in collaboration with cluster actors.
3. Wood Mobilisation and Cluster Management
Development and trial of innovative strategies for mobilisation, networking and market development through regional cluster management.
4. Transfer
Concept development for knowledge and experience transfer to comparable regions in Germany and potentially to other European countries as well as development of economic-political conclusions and recommendations for action.
