The project, commissioned by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitization and Energy of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), for a deeper investigation into the sub-market "Environmentally friendly energy conversion, transport and storage" aims to improve the existing activities of the regional government in the area of economic development and structural policy for to supplement and further develop the interests of the environmental economy.

The project is aimed at the development of recommendations for the further development and expansion of existing approaches to the promotion of economic development and structural policy of the state of North Rhine Westphalia and to provide concrete possibilities for implementation (project approaches) in the sub-market "Environmentally friendly energy conversion, Transport and storage". These recommendations are geared specifically to this submarket and its market segments. Both the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and its regions are considered as action areas.

Within the framework of this project, the Wuppertal Institute is working on important national and international megatrends for the economic development in NRW and the feedback of the central results in workshops accompanying the project. The project is managed by EUPD Research, further project partners are IFOK GmbH and Hochschule Ruhr West.
