Support for the Landesjugendring NRW in the Context of the Measure "Climate Policy in the Landesjugendring NRW”

  • Project no.252893
  • Duration 06/2022 - 12/2022

In November 2019, the Landesjugendring NRW adopted the climate policy resolution "With hand and foot for our future: youth associations in NRW fight for a climate fit for generations". A central goal of the resolution is to reduce CO2-footprint and to increase the handprint of the association in terms of its commitment to a climate-friendly future. The members of the association jointly commit to becoming climate neutral and to implement the necessary measures within the scope of their activities they conduct on the level of the federal state North Rhine Westphalia.

In this context, the participants of the project select an association with typical activities and conditions to draw up an exemplary CO2-balance and evaluate. Subsequently, suitable measures for CO2-reduction will be derived and incorporated in a guideline for action. These will then be made available to other members of the association.

The researchers of the Wuppertal Institute support the Landesjugendring NRW within the framework of the measure “Climate Policy in the Landesjugendring NRW” by providing expert support and advice on the approach, the evaluation of the results and the action guide to be developed. In doing so, it draws on results and instruments for carbon footprint assessment from the Schools4Future project, which are made available to the association.
