GHG Impact Reporting #4 Sustainable Loan Portfolio & EU Taxonomy

  • Project no.452986
  • Duration 09/2022 - 05/2023

Münchener Hypothekenbank eG commissions the Wuppertal Institute to prepare an impact report for its sustainable building portfolio.

As in previous years, the focus of the assessment is the quantification of avoided greenhouse gas emissions for properties financed by MünchenerHyp (excluding equipment located in the properties). These so-called "avoided emissions'' or "carbon handprints" are calculated on the basis of already established methods of the Wuppertal Institute and data provided by the client.  The impact analysis builds on previous work. As far as possible, already developed methods and data are used.

In the second step, the contractor examines a number of questions that have arisen in connection with the application of the criteria of the EU taxonomy for sustainable investments. Among other things, it will be investigated how the available (building) data of the client are suitable for the taxonomy compliance check and which information, if any, would have to be collected additionally.
The result of the project is a publishable impact analysis as "Impact Reporting" as well as a corresponding method paper in English language. In addition, the scientists create  a short report answering the user and data questions in the context of the EU taxonomy.
