The GIANTS project aims to tackle the issue of urban passenger transportation by developing frugal, zero-emission small vehicles that can be easily adapted to various use cases. GIANTS aims to foster collaboration between European stakeholders and Asian and African countries, with the goal of developing vehicle platforms that are applicable and adaptable across diverse global contexts, both in developed countries and in lower middle income countries.
GIANTS aims to close the gap between existing small e-vehicles, which are currently mostly used in niches, and cost-intensive light vehicles (cars and delivery vans)s, which are overengineered and oversized for many uses. This will be achieved by introducing and testing the GIANTS platform in living labs in Europe, Asia, and Africa as a modular, scalable light vehicle platform, suited for a broad range of use cases.
Wuppertal Institute's UN-Habitat Collaborating Center will facilitate the demonstration activities through setting a living lab approach and support the living labs in Manila and Kisumu.
