Ex CO2 AC

Aachen aims to become climate-neutral by 2030. For the mobility field of action, this primarily means integrating the transport climate protection measures already developed as part of the traffic development plan process into Aachen's climate neutrality strategy. In addition, however, it has become clear that in order to advance climate protection in the transport sector, it is necessary to modify the assessment of the CO2 savings potentials in the transport sector, which can be realised with strategies and measures whose implementation falls under the direct responsibility of the city of Aachen.

While the integration of the transport climate protection measures already developed by the city of Aachen into the climate neutrality strategy has already been completed, the project "Ex CO2 AC" primarily includes:

• the creation of an initial balance sheet for road and rail traffic in the Aachen urban area,
• an update of the impact assessment of selected transport climate protection measures under municipal responsibility,
• the addition of the existing set of transport climate protection measures,
• and the support of regional cooperation in designing mobility in the most climate-friendly way possible.
