Re-Use Berlin 2024/2025

Implementation of Re-Use measures 2024-2025

  • Project no.353549
  • Duration 09/2024 - 11/2025

The project "Implementation of Re-Use measures 2024-2025" supports the waste management concept of the state of Berlin, which is committed to the principle of "Zero Waste". It aims to promote the reuse of second-hand goods in order to avoid waste, conserve resources and improve the carbon footprint.

The focus is on strengthening cooperation between reuse stakeholders and increasing their visibility. In addition a tool for estimating CO2 savings will be integrated into the everyday lives of the partners involved. Advisory services and individual support ensure that the tool can be used flexibly. Furthermore, public campaigns such as presentations of the "Re-Use Superstore" as well as networking events and expert dialogues are planned to anchor the reuse idea in urban society.

The Wuppertal Institute is responsible for the scientific foundation of the project, in particular through the further development and application of the CO2 reduction tool. It will be introduced to re-use partners and integrated into their day-to-day work. In addition, interviews with users of the tool and flexible consultation formats will ensure that it can be used effectively in practice. The relevance of re-use among consumers will be analysed in the form of an online questionnaire. The results will be evaluated in order to derive recommendations for the re-use sector and policymakers.

The project is being implemented by u.e.c. Berlin in cooperation with Unnerstall Holzmarketing GmbH, the Ecologic Institute and Studio Eden and funded by the Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment.
