SalusTransform

Evaluation of Measures for Fair, Health-Promoting Urban and Sustainable Development

  • Project no. 453374
  • Duration 02/2025 - 01/2028

Integrated approaches to urban regeneration have the potential to change living conditions and lifestyles in a way that promotes health, thereby reducing social inequalities in health and at the same time helping to protect the climate and the environment. In the “SalusTransform” project, researchers evaluate Integrated Urban Development Concepts (IUDCs) in Bremen-Blumenthal, Bochum-Wattenscheid and Wuppertal-Mirke as complex interventions with regard to their effectiveness on health, ecological sustainability and social justice. The study design of a controlled, non-randomised intervention study uses a variety of qualitative and quantitative data collection methods as well as secondary data for process and outcome evaluation.
Outputs, outcomes and impacts to be examined were selected on the basis of a programme theory (logical model) for IUDCs. A difference-in-differences analysis is carried out for the impact evaluation with quantitative data. In close cooperation with civil society actors and municipal representatives, the project team assesses the evaluation results and explores options for the continuation of the evaluation. The results will be published in a joint collaborative publication. Dissemination in practice will take place specifically for the analysed IUDC areas (stakeholders and population) as well as overarchingly on targeted transfer events for German municipalities.
