MoKo-MG

Mobility Concept for the Adult Education Center and the Music School Mönchengladbach

  • Project no. 253601
  • Duration 11/2024 - 03/2025

The aim of the MoKo-MG project is to create a mobility concept for the adult education center (German: Volkshochschule, or VHS for short) and the music school in Mönchengladbach. To this end, the project team develops measures to promote sustainable mobility for both attendees and employees of the two institutions when travelling to and from the facilities. Overall, the concept aims to improve the ability to carry out all traffic that arises in connection with both institutions without a car.

First, the researchers carry out a traffic analysis of the examined area. The aim is to compile the framework conditions for the development and implementation of measures for climate-friendly mobility at the locations of the adult education center and the music school. The researchers then record and evaluate the status quo of attendee and employee mobility. By surveying both groups, they identify and collect possible needs for action and problems as well as ideas for measures that already exist on site.

In a final step, the project team develops target group specific measures for sustainable mobility. In addition to the evaluation of the data collected, the researchers conduct expert interviews with the management of the adult education center and the music school. They also organise two workshops, one focusing on the mobility of attendees and one on the mobility of employees. Existing good practice examples of mobility concepts for public institutions will also be included. In this way, different perspectives – and any existing ideas for measures – will be recorded, further developed and integrated into the concept. The resulting measures will be prepared by the researchers in implementation-oriented measure fact sheets and finally brought together in a catalogue of measures.
