The objective of the MSBau project is to create a data basis for more detailed monitoring and an improved understanding of the market for construction materials. To this end, the researchers at the Wuppertal Institute compile a comprehensive and detailed record of the demand for (construction) mineral raw materials in Germany, covering all key raw materials or raw material groups for the year 2024, broken down by downstream sub-sectors.
The study covers the following demand areas:
- Building construction: New construction and renovation of residential buildings
- Building construction: New construction and renovation of non-residential buildings
- Civil engineering: New construction as well as renovation and maintenance in the areas of roads, railways, waterways, water supply, wastewater disposal, energy generation and distribution, and other civil engineering sectors
- Economic sectors: Glass, ceramics, steel and foundries, chemicals, agriculture, water treatment, and other sectors
