International Wuppertal Colloquium "Sustainable Growth and Resource Productivity"

  • Project no.3325
  • Duration 01/2008 - 12/2010

The international colloquium is a scientific complement to the large-scale research project "Material efficiency and resource conservation" (MaRess). It brings together top experts on sustainable growth, resource productivity and industrial policy. It aims to discuss and analyse principle international economical relations by looking at sustainability approaches within and outside the EU. As special focus is laid on the strategies pursued by the USA and China, participants with long-standing expertise on these two countries are regularly invited. The project consists of 3 parts with the first two international colloquia having taken place in Wuppertal in 2008 and 2009 and the third international colloquium being planed in Brussels with resource policy as a focus.
The Wuppertal Institute organises the colloquia together with the Institute for International Economic Relationships (EIIW) at the University of Wuppertal (Prof. Dr. Paul J. J. Welfens) and the East-West Center (Dr. ZhongXiang Zhang).
The contributions will be published both as books and in journals. The result of the Colloquium 2008 is published as a book "Sustainable Growth and Resource Productivity - Economic and Global Policy Issues". The findings of the International Colloquium 2009 will be published both in the journal "International Economics and Economic Policy" and in a book published by the Springer publishing house.
