International Finance Architecture in the Framework of the Post 2012 Regime

  • Project no.2253
  • Duration 11/2008 - 03/2009

The financial mechanisms have attracted significant attention throughout the climate negotiations in 2009. First of all, the currently available financial resources are far below the several hundreds of billion dollars needed in 2030. Second, the institutional set-up of the existing financial mechanisms has been criticised by the developing countries accusing them to be organised in a donor country-oriented manner. The Wuppertal Institute, together with the Germanwatch addressed the above two issues by developing five papers: new finance sources, REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation), CDM, institutions, and compliance.
