Feasability Study for a Global Just Climate Financing Concept for the International Society (OneClimate)

  • Project no.650465
  • Duration 05/2015 - 04/2016

This feasibility study on innovative climate finance is commissioned by the Lutheran Church of Westfalia (Evangelische Kirche von Westfalen) and Bread for the World (Brot für die Welt), a protestant development organisation. It is carried out by the Wuppertal Institute in collaboration with Suedwind e.V. and Ö-Quadrat. The project aims at the mobilisation of a global citizen movement through common fight against climate change. Citizens of South Africa, India and Germany might, in a second phase, be able to unite in financing renewalble energy of efficiency projects. In a larger context, the project thus explores the foundations of new sustainable forms of global governance - away from traditional forms of North-South assistance and towards new, collaborative cooporation. The Wuppertal Institute furthermore explores whether this might also serve as an example for the transformation of our global economic system.
