Course of Lectures Progress II "Sustainable Energy Systems in the Quarter. Modells and Strategies between Local and Global Challenges"

  • Project no.251509
  • Duration 01/2019 - 06/2022

The NRW Research College "Sustainable energy systems in the neighbourhood. Models and strategies between local and global challenges" aims to develop technical, economic and social control models to increase energy efficiency in the neighbourhood. With its broad interdisciplinary composition and integration into practice (transdisciplinary), the Research College thus makes an important contribution to developing integrated concepts and promoting the necessary understanding between the disciplines and between future scientists and practitioners from different disciplines. Concrete possibilities for action and options are to support the acting parties, above all municipal utilities, municipalities, politicians and citizens, in advancing the energy system transformation in the neighbourhood. The spatial focus of the research work is on the Ruhr area and selected neighbourhoods there. A practical advisory board with members from companies, politics and local authorities accompanies the college in terms of content.

The consortium consists of the TU Dortmund, the universities of Bochum and Duisburg-Essen, the Bochum University of Applied Sciences, the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy gGmbH and the RWTH Aachen University, which is also the consortium leader in the second phase.
