AK-AV

Support of Working Group "Waste Prevention Measures"

  • Project no.352033
  • Duration 10/2019 - 11/2021

The presentation as well as implementation of waste prevention measures will become more important in the future, since according to the current draft of the circular economy law from 5 August 2019, measures taken for waste prevention are to be presented in future municipal waste management concepts.

The "Abfallwirtschaftsverein Rhein-Ruhr-Wupper" (AWRRW), consisting of members like independent cities, cities, districts as well as chambers of industry and craft from the administrative district of Düsseldorf, has recently founded the working group "Waste prevention measures" (AK-AV). As part of the AK-AV project and in the course of the next two years, this working group will be professionally accompanied and organisationally supported by the Wuppertal Institute with regard to all in all six working group sessions.

The aim of the cooperation is the identification and compilation of suitable waste prevention measures for members of the AWRRW in the form of a catalogue of measures. Depending on their own status quo regarding waste prevention, available resources and respective targets, appropriate waste prevention measures may be selected for implementation by the members at the end of the project. Another part of the project is the preparation of a basic text that can be used by members in the future when presenting waste prevention measures as part of their official waste prevention programmes.
