The city of Gelsenkirchen has clear objectives for its climate concept 2030/2050: Strategic recommendations for action on climate protection and adaptation to climate change after 2020 are to be developed and translated into a concrete catalogue of measures for 2030. The climate protection goals of the federal government and the Paris Agreement for 2050 are to be taken into account. The development of the concept is accompanied by a participation and coordination process with key stakeholders in the city and the interested public.
Through a subcontract for the engineering office GERTEC, the reserachers from the Wuppertal Institute are involved in the process of developing guidelines for a climate-friendly and climate-adapted city of Gelsenkirchen. They will develop further measures as well as ideas and recommendations for a future ambitious climate strategy.
