The goal of the research group "Future Energy and Mobility Structures" is to develop paths that can lead to the decarbonisation of energy systems, industries, and cities.
Our focus is on technical and social innovations that can aid in the transformation to sustainable structures. Integrating different social groups, we seek to identify climate protection technologies and strategies and to determine their technical and socio-economic potentials. In close collaboration with our partners, which include local authorities, states, and industries, we conduct comprehensive technology evaluations, analyse infrastructures, and develop strategies and consistent scenarios.
We generate research and develop practicable concepts for resolving current transformation challenges such as the decarbonisation of energy systems, the achievement of energy and resource efficiency in energy-intensive industries, and the sustainable modernisation of our cities.
We apply incisive methodologies including multi-criteria analysis, life cycle assessment, scenario analysis, and (agent-based) energy system modelling. Our research perspectives are both national and international in scope, and we are able to build on numerous cooperative projects carried out within networks (such as the IPCC) as well as broad-based experience in successful projects funded by third parties. Our goal is to generate social benefits based on sound research and offering a high degree of compatibility for various target groups.
