Countries around the globe including the MENA region undergo an Energy transition process by diversifying their energy supply with renewable energy sources. This transition process goes through different phases. The energy experts of the Wuppertal Institute developed a phase model.

On 22 and 23 January 2019, Prof. Dr. Manfred Fischedick, Vice-President of the Wuppertal Institute, and Sarra Amroune, Research Fellow in the Future Energy and Mobility Structures Division at the Wuppertal Institute, will present the study "Development of a Phase Model for Categorizing and Supporting the Sustainable Transformation of Energy Systems in the MENA Region" at the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Jordan & Iraq in Amman, Jordan.
The Wuppertal Institute discusses the study with the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the National Electric Power Company NEPCO, and other Jordanian stakeholders of the energy sector.
