Die Akzeptanz von grünem Wasserstoff in Nordrhein-Westfalen

Status quo und Handlungsempfehlungen

  • Publications 07.12.2023

Green hydrogen is a central component of the industrial transformation in North Rhine-Westphalia. Industries with high energy demands, such as the steel and chemical industry, depend on green hydrogen to mitigate their greenhouse gas emissions. Both, large sections of the public and industry experts from environmental associations, companies, labour unions and industry associations agree on this, as shown by two acceptance studies conducted by the Wuppertal Institute. However, the central challenges of green hydrogen also become clear: the need for clear framework conditions and the realistic portrayal of its opportunities and risks. This In Brief summarises the results of those two studies and presents recommendations for action directed at industrial and political stakeholders.
