Evaluation of the Austrian Climate Protection Campaign "klima:aktiv" 2004 to 2012

  • Project no.2267
  • Duration 11/2011 - 07/2012

The Austrian Federal Ministry for Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management commissioned the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy, Germany and the Austrian Institute for SME Research with the final evaluation. The Austrian climate protection campaign "klima:aktiv" started in 2004 and focuses on developing advisory activities and vocational training in relevant fields of action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The evaluation analyses the campaign's targets and processes as well as the impacts of its sub-programmes, clustered into construction and renovation, energy efficiency, renewables and mobility. Direct and indirect positive economic and environmental effects will be analysed regarding CO2 reduction, creation of "green jobs" and other environmental effects if applicable. In this regard methods for the impact assessment of soft measures are revised. Based on the evaluation's results opportunities for the further development of klima:aktiv "post 2012" will be identified.
