The qualification of upcoming junior research fellows is in the center of this project. Using the example of the region Unna/Kamen/Bergkamen/Bönen/Holzwickede, young research fellows are meant to be qualified in investigating the impacts and potentials of the energy transition ("Energiewende") on a specific region under the guidance of experienced research fellows. The focus of the research lies on the questions "How is the region positioned in relation to the energy transition?" and "Which development potential could be used in the future in the course of a socially and politically supported energy transition?". For this purpose, a simplified SWOT-analysis is used to show where there exist internal strengths and weaknesses as well as external opportunities and threats of the region in relation to a pro-active management of the energy transition. In the context of the project, several theses will be written and supervised by the Wuppertal Institute.
