Development of a Concept for the Promotion of Electric Mobility in South Saxony

  • Project no.251180
  • Duration 04/2017 - 12/2017

In cooperation with BET Büro für Energiewirtschaft und technische Planung GmbH in Aachen the Wuppertal Institute develops a concept for the use of electrically driven vehicles in private and public fleets in South Saxony. Target of the concept is the identification of potentials for the economically viable and climate-friendly use of electric vehicles by regional enterprises. In this context, regional actors are activated that dispose of fleets including vehicles whose performance, profiles of requirements and usage may refer to electric mobility as a possible alternative to conventionally driven vehicles.

For representative vehicles of the enterprises detailed driving profiles are developed in order to reach a reliable data base for assessing the suitability of electric mobility, i.e. for an economically viable partial or full conversion of the fleet from conventional to electric vehicles. This data base will also be referred to for the determination of environmental impacts and the stipulation of  adequate locations for charging devices.

The determination of adequate sites for charging devices is subject both to an examination of the existing network technology and an on-site visit to secure a basic feasibility.
