Bergische Klimagespräche

  • Project no.651376
  • Duration 07/2017 - 12/2019

Since autumn 2017 the former "Spiekerooger Klimagespräche" are known as "Bergische Klimagespräche" (Climate Roundtable in the region of the Bergisches Land). The roundtable is organised by the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy under the scientific direction of Prof. Dr. Uwe Schneidewind.

With the shift to the region of the Bergisches Land, the conference takes place in a region of early industrialisation, symbolic of the anthropocene and the origin of climate change. Compared with the former Spiekerooger Klimagespräche, there is a stronger focus on regional developments.

The first Bergische Klimagespräche were held in the Klostersaal in Solingen-Gräfrath on 28 to 30 September, 2017 – as usual with about 30 participants. 2017's topic was "the future of our cities".

The second Bergische Klimagespräche took place in Wuppertal in the "Internationales Evangelisches Tagungszentrum Auf dem heiligen Berg" and the Codeks on 11 to 13 October, 2018. 2018's subject was "art, culture and transformation".
