DREEAM

Demonstrating an Integrated Renovation Approach for Energy Efficiency at the Multi-building Scale

  • Project no.450602
  • Duration 10/2015 - 09/2019

The project "Demonstrating an integrated Renovation approach for Energy Efficiency At the Multi-building scale (DREEAM) aims to demonstrate replicable renovation approaches towards net zero energy residential buildings, which reduce 75 per cent of total net energy demand. The project focuses on multi-building, single-owner renovation projects (social and public housing) and is driven by a consortium of experts in renewable-energy systems, building-renovation engineering, built-environment researchers, energy-finances experts and European networks. Key steps within the project are:

  • the development of a DREEAM monitoring platform,
  • demonstration of the DREEAM approach in three climatologically different locations and initiation of replication in 15 more locations,
  • dissemination to 60 per cent of the target market through partnership with city, owner and innovation networks, and
  • briefing of 190 SME contractors and their skilled workers on the DREEAM approach's benefits.

The Wuppertal Institute supports the project's market analysis (work package 1), and replication programmes at city level, e.g. by creating synergies with the EU multi-city replication programme in the Climate-KIC regions (work package 5). In work package 6, the WI supports the DREEAM training programme.
