The "Wirtschaftsförderung Region Stuttgart GmbH” (Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation) is the central contact for investors and companies in the economic region. WRS engages in the marketing of the qualities of the business location, supports companies in settling in the region and promotes the development of the location with numerous projects and service offers.

As part of these activities, the WRS supports the transformation of the Stuttgart region towards sustainability. In this context, topics such as bioeconomy, circular economy or renewable energies are addressed as well as specific cross-sectional topics such as digitalisation, urbanisation or labour markets.

The WRS assigned the Wuppertal Institute with the scientific support of its activities for the further elaboration of the topics with the aim of advancing the implementation of projects. For this purpose, the scientists prepare studies, for example, on key innovations for the region, support communication measures such as expert dialogues, and provide strategic advice on, among other things, the development of an implementation strategy and the initiation of innovation labs.
