KEM

Evaluation of the Austrian Programme "Climate and Energy Model Regions"

  • Project no.251684
  • Duration 10/2018 - 03/2019

Climate and Energy Model Regions (German "Klima und Energiemodellregionen", KEM for short) is a funding programme of the Austrian Climate and Energy Fund (KLIEN). KEM supports local communities and regions in transforming energy generation and mobility and implementing  measures related to climate change. KEM follows KLIEN's objective of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Austria as quickly and sustainably as possible while safeguarding and creating regional added value and jobs. Local communities and regions are to use renewable and regional energy sources, energy efficiency measures, and sustainable mobility concepts to make a major contribution to ending Austria’s dependence on fossil fuels and to help ensure security of supply and stable energy prices. Led by the team from the Wuppertal Institute and KMU Forschung Austria evaluated the impact of the KEM programme in the context of transformation theory and developed recommendations for further development.
