Final conference of the "Urban Environmental Protection International" project

During the final conference "Environmental Protection in Cities: Common Challenges and Innovative Solutions" the project partners will present the results of the project "Urban Environmental Protection International" on Thursday, 5 March 2020 and discuss withe the participants. The event will address the need for action as well as solutions for central environmental problems and their interrelation with urban development in various countries on an international level and reflect on the transferability of innovative strategies. The different backgrounds of the participants are a key component of the conference.

The research project analyses the significance of environmental concerns in urban development in Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and Indonesia. The Wuppertal Institute is implementing the project, which is commissioned by the German Federal Environment Agency.

Prof. Dr. Manfred Fischedick, Scientific Managing Director of the Wuppertal Institute, will hold a keynote speech. In addition to the research results of the Wuppertal Institute, the conference programme will include contributions from representatives of the partner countries who will present innovative solutions for urban environmental protection and their local context. Among others, Dr. Oliver Lah and Dr. Frederic Rudolph (both Research Unit Mobility and International Cooperation at the Wuppertal Institute) will moderate thematic sessions.
